THE INTERSTATE BRIDGE REPLACEMENT (IBR) SALES TEAM MISLED US!
Not only has the IBR failed to provided full disclosure about its “Bridge Replacement” designs, in briefings to our elected officials the IBR team headed by Greg Johnson calls the tunnel option a “Myth,” which is refuted by the IBR’s own Tunnel Concept Assessment Rev 2!
The Interstate Bridge Replacement (IBR) Project committee wants to tear down & replace our historic Interstate Bridge which is strong and should be saved & repurposed. They want to replace it with a Los Angeles style mega bridge costing $7-$12 billion, that will take 15-years or more to build. Even worse, the IBR’s mega bridge will completely change the scenic wonder of the Columbia River I-5 crossing forever, while imposing monster tolls on a new bridge that does little to relieve traffic congestion.
The way to save our historic bridge and avoid costly tolls is to demand the IBR build a lower cost Immersed Tube Tunnel, saving the project $$ billions. Our historic Interstate Bridge can then be repurposed as a major "Gateway" attraction
complete with new Waterfront Parks in Vancouver and on Hayden Island for special events,
that will attract thousands of visitors and boost local business & tourist revenue in both Oregon and Washington!
